Note : Living off Lottery Prize Winnings is a popular segment from the TV show Denpa Shounen, which featured Nasubi (Real name: Hamatsu Tomoaki; nickname is based on the word for “eggplant” because of his long facial structure), an amateur comedian who had to live in an isolated room, with just what he wins by applying for the lottery draws for products appearing on magazines. Starting off completely naked, which he had to remain so right till the end because he never won any clothing items throughout his challenge. His target was to reach 1 million yen worth of all the products he wins from the lottery. BUT! When he reached his target of 1 million yen 11 months since the start, instead of taking him back home, they took him to Korea where he had to resume the challenge to win prizes worth the price of the flight ticket back to Tokyo (57,300 yen in economy; which they then upgraded to business class worth 81,600 yen), which he was able to complete in the next 91 days and returned home successfully in March 1999, one year and 3 months since the start in January 1998.
